Features
Four highlights built around Steam and around finding the right clip fast, with a full soundboard underneath. Every picture on this page is a screenshot of the app. Click one to enlarge it.
Give the clip a title and a short description, pick its tags, choose the audio file and a cover picture, and press Publish Sound Clip. It appears on the Workshop for every SoundRelay user, on Windows, Linux and Steam Deck alike.
Your sound files are synced through Steam Cloud. Reinstall your system or move to another computer and your clips come back.
The files are the same on every system, so the clips you added on a Windows PC are the clips you get on a Linux PC or a Steam Deck.
Give any clip its own picture, so you find it by sight in a long list. Workshop clips come with the picture their author chose.
The selected clip shows its picture large, with its tags, waveform, playback destination, hotkey and volume.
Label clips with tags from a built-in list of 27 (Meme, Music, Hype, Reaction and more). Click a tag to show only clips that have it, click again to hide clips that have it. The same tags filter the Workshop.
In the screenshot, Funny is switched on and Music is switched off, so the list shows funny clips that are not music.
Everything else
Give a clip a key or a key combination and trigger it while another window has focus. A separate hotkey stops playback, and hotkeys can start and stop a recording or run the editor's tools.
A key you assign as a hotkey is used by SoundRelay while the app is running, so pick keys your games do not need.
Group clips into presets. Each preset has its own hotkeys, so the same keys can do different things in different games. Pick a preset from the list at the top and the library shows only its clips.
Record your microphone, the sound your speakers are playing, or both, and add the recording to your library. Hotkeys can start and stop a recording, so you never have to leave the game.
Choose for each clip whether it plays to your microphone, your speakers, or both. Right-click a clip to play it, edit it, mark it as a favorite, set its hotkey, make it repeat, change its picture or export it.
One clip plays at a time. Starting a clip stops the one that was playing. A clip can be set to repeat.
Dark and light themes, an accent color, adjustable text size, minimize to tray, and start with your computer. Gilbert the cat can be hidden if you want the space.
Search by name, mark favorites, filter by length, and sort by name or by how often you use a clip.
Add MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, M4A and WebM files by drag and drop or from a file dialog. Export any clip back to a file. The same files work on Windows, Linux and Steam Deck.
One library, every system
A sound file is the same file everywhere. A clip you add on Windows plays on Linux and on the Steam Deck with nothing to convert, and the other way round. Steam Cloud carries your sound files between your computers, and a Workshop clip is the same item on every system.
SoundRelay is on Steam for Windows, Linux and Steam Deck. $4.99, bought once.
